Georgia has applied for financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under a sector loan for the financing of a project to supervise the construction of kindergartens and sports complexes in different regions of Georgia and the construction of urban and tourist infrastructure in three clusters of urban areas under the Liveable Cities Investment Project for Balanced Development (LCIP).

The main objective of the project is to build 20 kindergartens and 4 sports complexes in different regions of Georgia, as well as to support the local economy in the selected clusters by introducing an integrated approach to tourism development focusing on infrastructure, urban regeneration, restoration of the cultural heritage and the provision of an environment that attracts investment from the private sector. This includes integrated solutions that provide joint benefits to citizens in the development of urban clusters.

The civil works contracts to be supervised include a variety of works such as restoration of cultural heritage buildings and monuments/tourist attractions, tourism infrastructure, as well as municipal water/wastewater systems, lighting, local roads and utilities. These works also include the reconstruction/rehabilitation/renovation and construction of buildings for kindergartens and sports complexes, with special attention to structural works and the application of energy efficiency measures.

The objective of construction supervision is to exercise control of the rehabilitation works to guarantee the high quality of the construction, the detailed design and the fulfillment of the conditions of execution of the works stipulated in the construction contracts in accordance with the requirements of the specifications, which will result in the reliability, long-term sustainability and efficient operation of the rehabilitated works.
